Savor the Final Splash: Late Summer at Forest Creek Golf Club

Enjoy the last of summer at Forest Creek
Forest Creek tennis and ball court with branded windscreen in Pinehurst, NC.

August at Forest Creek Golf Club is a season all its own. Warm afternoons linger, the golf course is in peak condition, and the Forest Creek pool sparkles under the late-summer sun. This is the moment when summer slows down just enough to be savored — and there’s still time to enjoy everything our club has to offer before the season turns.

Late summer is more than just a date on the calendar. It’s a feeling — the sun dipping lower in the sky, casting golden light across the fairways, the sound of kids enjoying their final days of vacation, and the sight of members gathering by the pool for one more swim. While fall’s crisp mornings and tournament season will be here soon, August gives us the gift of transition — and we encourage you to make the most of it.

Pool Days in Pinehurst—Before They’re Gone

The Forest Creek pool has been the hub of summer activity, and there is only a limited time left to take advantage before we officially close for the season. Whether you’re doing morning laps, meeting friends for a leisurely afternoon, or enjoying a book poolside, now is the time to make those last summer memories.

The Forest Creek pool will officially close for the season September 21st, at 8:00 pm.

Late-Summer Golf at Its Best

While the golf course is stunning year-round, late-summer golf brings its own unique beauty. The course is framed by mature greenery, bursts of vibrant flowerbeds, and sweeping views bathed in soft evening light. Warm days paired with slightly cooler mornings create ideal playing conditions.

You might also spot some of the season’s wildlife: deer grazing along the tree lines, late-summer bird activity, and turtles basking in the sun near the water hazards. And then there are the famous fox squirrels—large, striking, and unmistakable with their playful, impish antics. This time of year, they’re still in their energetic summer mode, darting through the pines and chasing each other across the fairways. Soon enough, their focus will shift to stocking up for the colder months, but for now, they’re a lively reminder of the season’s charm.

Spotlight on Forest Creek’s Fox Squirrels

If you’ve spent time on the course lately, you’ve probably seen our fox squirrels making the most of the warm weather. Larger and more colorful than the typical gray squirrel, they’re easy to spot as they scurry across fairways or chase each other through the pines. For now, they’re playful and curious—but before long, they’ll turn their attention to gathering food for the colder months ahead. Catch their lively antics while you can!

Tennis and Pickleball Courts in Late Summer

August and early September are some of the most exciting months for racquet sports—thanks in part to the U.S. Open, the major Grand Slam tournament that inspires players around the world. Here at Forest Creek, our tennis and pickleball courts are in full swing this time of year.

Whether you’re playing a friendly match, joining a clinic, or just picking up a paddle for the first time, late summer offers ideal conditions and plenty of opportunities to get on the court. Evenings tend to be cooler, the atmosphere is lively, and the camaraderie is second to none. If the U.S. Open has you feeling inspired, there’s no better time to put your own skills to the test.

Make the Most of Late Summer at Forest Creek

From late-summer golf to matches on the tennis and pickleball courts, from the beauty of the golf course, to relaxing afternoons by the Forest Creek pool, this is the moment to savor the final weeks of the season. And while fall will bring its own reasons to celebrate, there’s something special about closing out summer surrounded by friends, family, and the beauty of our community—playful fox squirrels included.
