South Course Hole 1

PAR 4
The opening hole is ranked the 9th most difficult on our South Course and requires accuracy off the tee to start your round. The inside of the dogleg provides a more level stance while the left side presents a downhill uneven lie. A drive to the left will bring the deep fairway bunker into play. For longer hitters, a fairway wood may be the appropriate play, followed by a short approach shot with a lofted iron. The angled green is guarded by a large left side bunker and slopes back to front with subtle breaks from most positions.

South Course Hole 2

PAR 3
One of the easiest holes by handicap on the South Course, from a slightly elevated tee box this par 3 provides a generous sized, two-tiered green. The marsh area hazard may come into play for shots favoring the right side of the greenside bunker. Important here to leave your ball below the hole as the green slopes back to front.

South Course Hole 3

PAR 5
The challenging 3rd hole par 5 requires a well-placed tee shot to a narrow landing area. Only the longest hitters will have a chance to reach this green in two. Avoiding the left bunker off the tee will set you up with the choice to position yourself close to the green or lay up to your desired yardage to approach a severely uphill approach shot. Well-placed fairway bunkers guard the fairway just beyond 100 yards and add to the difficulty of your second shot. Guarded by one of our deepest greenside bunkers, this two-tiered green features a severe false front. Land your ball toward the middle of the green for front hole locations and use the hill feeding it back to the hole. Take caution on any putts above the hole to avoid three-putts or rolling off the green on front pin positions.

South Course Hole 4

PAR 4
The dogleg right, downhill par 4 ranks as our fifth toughest and provides a gradually sloping left to right fairway for your tee ball. Longer hitters playing the long tees can cut significant yardage and eliminate the long iron approach by aiming over the right-side fairway bunkers. A well struck drive on this line will ride the hill beyond the bunkers and leave a wedge into a green which runs away from you. Our recommendation is to play it safe and play down the middle of fairway, favoring the right side for a clear approach and to avoid being blocked out from the right-side trees. The green is flanked by two large bunkers making it important to land your second shot on the putting surface. Aim left of pin on your approach, as this green tends to reward those who are aware that most approach shots will roll out to the right.

South Course Hole 5

PAR 4
Driver is the play on the short par 4 5th hole which features a generously wide fairway. Misses on the high side above the bunker can make this hole more challenging, as a sidehill lie or downhill approach from thick rough is likely. From the fairway, the green is elevated with a false front feeding any ball not toward the middle of the green to roll off the front. Avoid going long at all costs as this green runs back to front and will make saving par a difficult task. Utilizing the left to right slope will provide a larger target and better end result to an extremely quick putting surface.

South Course Hole 6

PAR 3
This par 3 is visually stunning from the tee box and features a hard to miss large sandy area running along the right side of the green. Don’t be distracted by the sand and play to the left side of the green which slopes to the right to help feed your ball to the right pin positions. Club selection on this hole is similar to your selection on hole 2.

South Course Hole 7

PAR 5
You’ve made it to the most difficult hole on the South Course! The stout par 5 demands a series of precise shots in order to reach this green in regulation and have a look at birdie. First mission is to avoid the long bunker along the right side of the fairway. The second shot requires a well-placed ball between the bunkers on the left and right side 100 yards from the green. Your approach is guarded by a steep-faced bunker which covers much of the green.

South Course Hole 8

PAR 4
Don’t let the distance or numerous bunkers on this short 350 yard par 4 fool you. From the tee, bunkers across the fairway will make you question which route to take. Hitting a shorter tee shot left of the center bunker provides a better glimpse of the green on your second shot, however, and aiming right of the center bunker will catch the slope and shorten this stunning par 4! The green is the real defense on this hole as it slopes from front to back, so any approach shots landing middle to back will likely roll off. Remember to give your putt some pace when behind the pin, putting back to the front pin position.

South Course Hole 9

PAR 4
The ninth hole is another demanding par 4 to finish the front nine. Accuracy and placement off the tee are imperative to have a shot at birdie. Avoid the right side at all costs as your ball can easily find the hazard or be blocked out to reach this green in regulation. Aim left center side and use the sling left to right fairway to feed into a desirable approach position. Longer hitters should consider a fairway wood unless playing the championship tees. This difficult green complex will require your best to get out with a good look at birdie. The green is fronted by a finger from the lake and severely sloping left right. Short, long or left will make for a difficult up and down.

South Course Hole 10

PAR 3
A stout test to start the back nine awaits on this long par 3. Usually playing into the wind, an uphill shot requires a well struck long iron or hybrid shot to get up on the putting surface. The green tilts away from the left to right so misses will require a delicate touch to recover. A deep bunker on the right catches many balls, but an uphill bunker shot provides a chance to save par.

South Course Hole 11

PAR 4
Quite possibly the most stunning par 4 approach shot on the South Course, this short dogleg will tempt the player to shorten the approach. Doing so will leave a short, uphill shot into an undulating green complex. Long hitters have plenty of room above the left side fairway bunker or can play it safe with a fairway wood to eliminate being blocked out by the trees guarding the right side of this hole. The left side of this green is guarded by a deep bunker, making it difficult to get close to the left pin positions. Utilize the right to left slope on this green to get to the back pin position.

South Course Hole 12

PAR 5
At almost 600 yards this par 5 will require a series of well-placed shots for a chance at birdie. The large fairway slopes from right to left so a tee shot hugging the left is likely to catch the rough. Position your ball over or left of the right-side bunker for optimal placement. A second shot downhill to the right side of the fairway is the best angle coming into the green guarded by a large front left bunker. Keep your approach below the hole as downhill putts from above the flag are treacherous.

PAR 4
The dogleg right par 4 will require a tee shot between the two bunkers on right and left to set up for an uphill approach. An extra club is likely to hit it close on this elevated, left to right sloping green. Above the hole is not ideal as a slick downhill putt awaits.

South Course Hole 14

PAR 5
This stunning hole and reachable par 5 arrives at the perfect time among a difficult stretch on the back nine. An accurate tee shot to the middle or right side of the fairway leaves the best opportunity to reach the green in two. Surrounded by bunkers on the side but open in front, options are present to land on the green or run your ball. The green is pitched back to front, so will require a delicate touch from the back.

South Course Hole 15

PAR 4
Position off the tee is important to navigate a challenging green on this dogleg left par 4. Drive it down the middle to the right side of the fairway to approach the green from the best angle. The green is highest in the middle and runs off in the back. It is heavily guarded by a bunker on the left leaving a difficult sand save. Any shot left to the front of the green on back pin locations can make for a daunting putt up the mound and then downhill.

South Course Hole 16

PAR 4
Our most difficult par 4 will require two well placed shots to reach the green and avoid many hazards that await off the tee and around the green. Cut this fairway in half and hit your tee shot to the right center of the fairway for the angle in. A tee shot hugging the left fairway bunker will be blocked out by the heavy line of pines along the left and require a shaped shot to hit this green in regulation. The second shot carries over a deep valley to the green with a deep left side bunker. The angle from the right side of the fairway is ideal to reach the back pin position on this right to left angled, two-tiered green.

South Course Hole 17

PAR 3
A remarkable setting for this amphitheater-like par 3, but don’t let the beauty fool you as a demanding midiron is necessary to hit this green in regulation. The left side bunker is deep and shots landing in this hazard have the tendency to bury. This exposed and elevated tee box is often met by a swirling wind and your iron shot into a shallow green will require precision and the correct distance for a good look at birdie.

PAR 4
The final hole is set with the beautiful lake backdrop but requires attention as you approach this green. The wide fairway allows a relatively straightforward tee shot to set up for your final approach shot of the round. This green should not be taken for granted as a lot of movement awaits to end on a positive note. The initial third of this green complex slopes back to the fairway and the back third will slope away towards the water. Putts and chip shots to the back pin position must take precaution to keep your ball from running down the hill off the back of the green.

The iconic Hog Hole is the 37th hole at Forest Creek. It is a challenging yet scenic par three conveniently located along the drive from the 18th green of the South Course to the Clubhouse. The hole consists of five different tee locations, and each demands a tee shot over water to a green protected by front and back bunkers. At the completion of your round, take the opportunity to go “whole hog” and “double your bet” on this unique 37th hole.
