This is Sandhills golf—jagged bunker edges cutting through native grasses, natural sand sprawling across the landscape, and a routing that feels less manicured and more discovered. Inspired by Pine Valley's raw beauty, Fazio created something that honors this land rather than taming it. Where Strategy Meets the Sandhills

The North Course demands thought. Those wide expanses of natural sand aren't just aesthetic—they're strategic. The irregular bunker lines mean every approach requires a real decision. The greens have character—undulating surfaces where a putt from the back edge down to a front pin becomes an exercise in touch and nerve.

North Course Hole 1

PAR 4
The opening hole on our North Course is a shorter par 4 with plenty of room to put your tee shot in the fairway. Off the tee, longer hitters can aim at the left side of the right side fairway bunker to catch the slope and reduce approach shot distance. The left to right angled green is best approached from the right center of the fairway to eliminate the left greenside bunker from the line of sight.

North Course Hole 2

PAR 3
This par 3 plays slightly downhill to a large green sloping back to front. The two-tiered green makes it important to carry your ball to the upper tier for back pin positions and makes a slick downhill putt if you’re above the hole. Be cautious when attacking a right-side pin position as the greenside bunkers are very deep and have been known to bury a ball on occasion.

North Course Hole 3

PAR 5
The first par 5 is reachable in two for the longest hitters but demands an accurate drive down the fairway which moves right. Aim down the right side of the fairway off the tee and balls moving left to right will follow the hole shape and set you up for your 2nd shot. The safe route will lend itself to a fairway wood to a layup of 75-125 yards for a wedge into the narrow green sloping from left to back right.

PAR 3
The second par 3 in the first four holes is the shortest on the North, and the bunker left of the hole should be avoided. The right to left angle and back to front slope of the green mandate that below the pin is your best chance at birdie.

North Course Hole 5

PAR 4
The elevated tee provides a beautiful vista to a wide fairway below. The left bunker is reachable, and trouble lurks if your ball ends up in the sand here. Fairway wood is a smart play to avoid the bunker as well as a left to right sloping fairway. There is more trouble on the green than appears as the back left and right portions feature slopes to funnel balls away.

North Course Hole 6

PAR 4
This par 4 presents the first blind drive on the North Course, and the long right-side bunker can make it more appealing to favor the left side. Tee shots landing in the right-side waste area will be faced with an uphill, into the wind approach shot. Placing your drive along the right side of the fairway provides a great advantage coming into the green from that angle. Left side approaches are guarded by a steep bunker, making it harder to keep it on the putting surface.

North Course Hole 7

PAR 4
A fairway that is set following the natural contour of the hole; this demanding par 4 requires a well-placed tee shot. Avoiding the bunker on the left side of the fairway opens more opportunities for a flatter lie on the right side of the landing area. This green is well protected with a sever false front and a right greenside bunker. Approach shots will land on the front portion of the green and work towards to back right.

North Course Hole 8

PAR 4
A lengthy and very difficult par 4, the 8th hole provides one of the widest fairways on the North Course. However, driving down the left side will leave a long iron or fairway wood into the green complex. Drives which favor the right side will provide the best chance of reaching this green in regulation. Center of the green is the target on your approach. Avoid long and left, as shots from this side of the green are more difficult than most.

North Course Hole 9

PAR 5
The closing par 5 on the opening nine provides a great opportunity for a look at birdie with a well struck drive down the left center of this fairway. Right side drives will be blocked out by trees on this dogleg right and force a recovery layup to a tight landing area guarded by red stakes. Longer hitters can reach this green in two, however most golfers will lay up for a 3rd shot approach into narrow green which slopes from back to front.

North Course Hole 10

PAR 5
Your second par 5 in a row awaits to open your back nine. From the tee, aim right center to catch the slope and set yourself up for the ideal second shot. The 10th hole requires two setup shots to approach the small green from a proper angle. The second shot is most important here to avoid the two bunkers flanking the fairway and having a short iron to navigate the severe false front awaiting on the green.

North Course Hole 11

PAR 4
Your tee shot on the par 4 11th should favor the left center of the fairway. Drives missing right will flirt with deep fairway side bunkers requiring great skill to escape without challenge. A mid to long iron approach to this raised green should take dead aim at the center of the green complex to avoid the left greenside bunker and right-side slope which can leave you with a lengthy chip shot.

North Course Hole 12

PAR 4
A visually stunning uphill par 4 features a strategically placed fairway bunker and large bunker complex off the left side of the green. Aim at the left side of the right fairway bunker for the best angle to the uphill right-to-left angled green. The front of the green slopes back toward the fairway and requires a well struck mid iron to this uphill green. Land your ball on the middle tier for the look at birdie while avoiding the left side unless you have a short iron in your hands on the approach.

North Course Hole 13

PAR 4
Like most short par 40s, long off the tee is not always the play. The 13th can be played many different ways. Hit the big stick over the left bunkers and let it roll down the hill for a short 50-yard wedge from an uneven lie or lay back with a 3-wood for a full shot from a level lie. The downhill green which slopes from front to back, funneling balls landing too far onto the surface toward the back of the green, is very firm and makes hitting it close on the approach more difficult than most would expect.

North Course Hole 14

PAR 3
This par 3 is surrounded by a large bunker complex on the left and small bunkering on the right. A long iron or fairway wood is the typical play into a green which slopes from back to front. Long shots will funnel down the back side of this green complex leaving a difficult up and down. The miss here is short to putt or chip back up the hill.

North Course Hole 15

PAR 4
Our signature hole offers one of the most beautiful views on both courses. The lake running along the right side requires the most accurate drive of your day, down the left center of the fairway. However, approach shots favoring the right side of this fairway will be rewarded with a better angle into this green. One of the fairest green complexes on the North Course, any shot landing in the center of this green will provide a great opportunity to make a putt.

North Course Hole 16

PAR 3
This par 3 features a beautiful contrast of lake, vegetation and large bunkering to the left and right of the green. Long to mid irons are the typical play to this large green. Shots not hit purely will funnel down the hill in front of the green, leaving an uphill chip to a green which can run away from you.

North Course Hole 17

PAR 4
On this majestic par 4 the slight dogleg left to right runs along the lake, which comes into play on your tee shot and approach. Clearing the right side fairway bunker requires a well struck drive and will be rewarded with a level lie and better angle to approach the green with water surrounding, but it will increase the risk of penalty strokes. Aiming left of this bunker and approaching the green from the left side of the fairway presents an intimidating shot with a likely uneven lie pushing the ball flight towards the water hazard but is the safest play. The contoured green slopes towards the water making any ball left of the green a difficult save when the pin is on the left side.

North Course Hole 18

PAR 5
The shortest par 5 on the course, the North Course’s finishing hole provides you with a great chance to end your round strong. The elevated tee areas provide a long-range view of this beautiful par 5. A left to right, well struck tee shot hit down the right sloping fairway will present long hitters the best chance to reach the green in two. Just off the right of the fairway, a waste bunker lines almost the entire fairway until the green. The elevated green awaits, surrounded by deep bunkering on each side. The pin position will determine the best layup spot here. Left pin positions will benefit from an approach on the right side of the fairway, while the back right pin is most accessible from the left.
